Spare Time Challenge Club
We are a non-profit child care organization that offers quality affordable before and after school care for children attending Kingsford-Smith Elementary School.
Each day, children at Spare Time Challenge Club may choose from a selection of programs and activities. In addition to the daily program schedule, we have board games, arts & crafts, a library, sports, cooperative games, computers, Homework Club and much more!

Leaders Program: 9-12 Years Old | Spare Time takes pride in our Leaders’ Club Programs developed for Grades 4-7. These programs focus on skill learning, knowledge building, personal responsibility and increased independence. | |
Morning Program:K-12 Years Old | Early birds who attend Spare Time Challenge Club can play games, do puzzles and arts & crafts. Breakfast is available from 7:30-8:30am for a nominal fee. | |
Holidays | During holiday breaks, Pro D days and district closures our centre is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with lunch and snacks provided. |

Children are always well supervised on field trips and we use Variety Club Vans for excursions. Activities include: sports clinics, art, unique and challenging team games, crafts, swimming, special guests, computers, arcade games and much more. Our fees include all program activities and field trips as well as nutritious lunches and snacks.

Grades 1-7:
Before School Only: $195.00Before & After School Care: $486.00

Included in Monthly Fee:
Instructional Days: Tuesday, September 6, 2022 to Thursday, June 29, 2023.Full day care for Kindergarten gradual entry in September is not available, (care is 7:30-9am , 3-6 pm) regular monthly fees apply.
Non-Instructional Days: 6, plus 4 early dismissals (2 pm) related to Parent-Teacher conferences.
All programs will be closed on Friday, June 30th for summer preparations.

Winter and Spring Breaks are not included in monthly rates. Payment is IN ADDITION TO regular monthly fees.

Please note that centres that do not meet minimum enrolment for this period will be closed, in which case care for all families will be offered at one location only to be determined in December.

Week 1: Monday March 15 – Friday March 19.
Week 2: Monday March 22 – Friday March 26.
Fee: $320.00 per week /Kindergarten $293.00 per week

Subsidy
An Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) is available for those who qualify from the Ministry of Children and Family Development. There will be additional fees in case of district closure days, winter break and spring break.
Homework Club
The Spare Time staff are available to support children with their homework between 3:30 – 4:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday (Friday being an option.) It is the children’s responsibility to bring and complete their own homework. Our scheduled programs start at 4:00 p.m. Leaders that are not in the Homework Club have the opportunity to play quiet games or read.

Please Note: Each child that is in the Leaders Club needs to read the Leaders Contract Package with their parents.Goals for a Leader:Be ready to have fun.Be responsible for your actions.Be respectful to others; verbal and physical abuse are not tolerated.Be accountable for where you are and what you do.

Snack
A delicious and nutritious snack is provided daily after school.Typical snacks include: Crackers & Cheese, Veggies & Dip, Nachos, Soup, Fruit & Yogurt, Baking Club Goodies, and much more!
Gym & Outdoor Activities
Everyday we offer the children in our program a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors-depending on the weather. Hockey, basketball, baseball, table tennis, co-operative games and challenges are part of the fun, and the beautiful playground is used regularly.
Exciting Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Holiday programs are offered and a separate schedule will be available. There will be an extra charge for these programs.
